To be or Not to be is the real question

{March 26, 2009}   Update from surgery…

Just wanted to give an update post-surgery. I had my upper endoscopy of my GI yesterday. Celiac disease was ruled out, although, the doctor said I might actually be developing a slight wheat allergy. Hence, that would be the cause of symptoms mimicing some of the celiac. I am very pleased with that answer.  However, my lower esophagus was inflammed and irritated, so the physician did a biopsy of it. Also, it was discovered that I have a hiatal hernia in my lower/side of my stomach along with the lining being flaky. Hence, why I am not breaking down foodstuffs or why somethings make me ill after taking them, since my stomach is not able to do what it is supposed to. I am pretty pleased with the results, but don’t actually go in for my follow-up visit until next week. Until then, ttfn!

Glad the GI went well & they ruled out that & figured out what it was. It is always good to know what is causing issues with our bodies!! I will keep you in my prayers & I hope now that you have found out whats up u can recover & start feeling better!

I am having to go in for another MRI this one on my Cspine. Wish me luck. LOL.

Hi ara.

Good that you at least got some diagnosis to start with now. And good that its not celiac. How are you doing now? Any news??

WMWB, Hope you are doing well. What happened to your spine?

Well, after last week’s barium swallow upper GI, it all came back okay and the doctor is having me take protonix twice daily to control the hernia issues. I also had to return for a follow-up to my hematologist. They drew bloodwork, and I am now low average/borderline anemic, so he thinks the prilosec might have caused the iron deficiency.. hence the anemia. Although I can’t keep down iron tablets, he told me to continue what I am doing such as eating apples and green leafy vegetables. He then explained that the tumor and the hernia both or only one could possibly be influencing my platelet counts, especially since they are rising again, although my anemia is resolving. He explained that that suggests that I really do have the bone marrow disease, but until I start having worse issues, he does not want to put me on any medications since I am ‘relatively’ healthy. That’s all I know for now :)

Mirchi they had to do mri on my c-spine to see if my concussion caused any trama.
